Ethiopia – Webseminar on Perspectives of Scientific Cooperations
20.09.2023

After recent years marked by the Covid pandemic and conflict in the northern Tigray region, Ethiopia has found its way back. Africa's second-largest country by population (112 million) has given the higher education sector an important role in achieving its development goals. In fiscal year 2019/20, spending on higher education tops the list, accounting for 21% of the budget.

To address the various challenges of the higher education system, the government has launched a comprehensive scholarship program for study and research exchanges for university staff and students (B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D.). According to the national development plan, the scholarship program mainly focuses on engineering and technical courses in cooperation with implementing organizations in various countries, such as Germany, China, South Korea, India, UK, USA and NL.

However, science collaborations are not limited to this program.

Visit our web seminar for more first-hand information!

Starting with an introduction to the latest trends and developments in science collaboration on the African continent, we will focus on the Ethiopian science landscape. Two insightful presentations will give us an overview of the university landscape and its relevant developments in recent years.

We are pleased to welcome numerous science experts from Ethiopia and Germany to our panel discussion to talk about the perspectives of cooperation between Ethiopian and Baden-Württemberg universities.

We are looking forward to welcome you!
