Baden-Württemberg: Europe's innovation region No. 1 presents its strengths to investors from all over the world at Expo Real

On the joint stand of Baden-Württemberg International at the Munich real-estate trade fair, regions of the state will be showing opportunities for investment.

At Expo Real in Munich from 7 to 9 October 2019, Baden-Württemberg International (bw-i), the agency for economic development, will be joining six regions to present attractive opportunities for companies to settle and set up business in the state. "As the leading location for innovation and business in the EU area, Baden-Württemberg enjoys a very good reputation among foreign investors. In the face of worldwide competition, the German Southwest scores highly with its strong industrial base, its business-friendly research institutes and its highly educated and trained specialists", says Dr. Kai Schmidt-Eisenlohr, CEO of bw-i. Last year, Baden-Württemberg attracted 419 foreign investment projects, slightly below the result of 2017 when a total of 421 projects were initiated.

The joint stand organised by bw-i at the international trade fair for real estate and investment in hall B 1.222 has 34 exhibitors and their partners, including municipal and regional institutions for the promotion of business and commerce, the L-Bank, urban developers and other service provider and is the showcase for Baden-Württemberg as an investment location in Germany's Southwest. Under the umbrella of the state, the regions of Freiburg, Heilbronn-Franken, North Black Forest, Ostwürttemberg, Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg and Neckar-Alb will be providing information on their main industries, available business sites and the potential for investment. Other exhibitors on the state stand are Blue Estate GmbH, THOST Projektmanagement GmbH, Köster GmbH and CG Gruppe AG.

Regions of interest in the southwest

The Heilbronn-Franken region will be introducing its new online portal www.mieten-kaufen-ansiedeln.de that offers users a digital overview of available sites and real estate for commercial use in the region as well as information on the individual communities.

Around 90 industrial zones with over 270 hectares of land are currently available in the Ostwürttemberg region and information on them can be accessed via the commercial database www.gewerbeflaechen-ostwuerttemberg.de. Investors in this region profit from its integration in the Stuttgart metropolitan region.

Known as a global center for medical technology, the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region has land areas up to 65 hectares on offer that are suitable for large-scale settlement and are favourably located next to the freeway A81 (www.immosbh.de).

With its technology parks in Stuttgart (STEP), Karlsruhe (TPK), Mannheim (TPMA) and Tübingen-Reutlingen (TTR), the L-Bank offers companies and potential investors an environment that makes it easier for them to focus on new technologies. In addition, the proximity of the parks to universities promotes the transfer of technology from science to industry.

Politician expected to visit the Baden-Württemberg stand

The appearance of Baden-Württemberg at Expo Real has also awakened the interest of the re-gional politics. Katrin Schütz, State Secretary in the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing Baden-Württemberg, will visit the bw-i stand on 7 October 2019 in the context of a tour of the trade fair and will talk to representatives of the municipal and regional institutions for the promotion of business and commerce as well as to the participating companies. For 5.30 p.m., State Secretary Schütz has invited to a reception on the joint stand and to joint talks with the exhibitors.
