Baden-Württemberg at the Hannover Messe 2010, the most important leading trade show for current technological trends in industry

Industrial parts-supply solutions – An advertisement for Baden-Württemberg's industry
Whether in the context of materials or production methods, Baden-Württemberg has for years been enjoying its reputation as one of the most innovative regions in the world when it comes to the supply industry. In the Southwest, innovative technologies are being refined continuously. At the same time, the wealth of ideas has by no means diminished. In 2009, the enormous number of 15,532 new patents from Baden-Württemberg were registered at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, over 500 more than in 2008. This was in spite of the economic situation and contrary to the general trend in patent registrations in Germany as a whole.

The Baden-Württemberg presentation in the Industrial Supply section of the fair will be giving an international professional public the opportunity to obtain information on and exchange ideas about efficient, energy-saving solutions from the area of industrial supply and lightweight construction at the Baden-Württemberg stand (stand E24) in hall 4. Fifty innovative companies as well as numerous attractive company locations, including the economic regions of Stuttgart, Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg and Nordschwarzwald (Black Forest), as well as the economic promotion agency of the city of Pforzheim will be represented on the joint stand this year.

For further information on the exhibitors on the joint stand (stand E24) in hall 4 in the Industrial Supply section, please refer to: http://event.bw-i.de/?id=1116&locale=en.

The experts from Baden-Württemberg International will be available for domestic and foreign companies interested in cooperative ventures and investment and will be showing the potential that the state has to offer as a location for industry and science.

Close interconnection of industry and research
The intensive collaboration between industry and research is an important success factor for Baden-Württemberg as a location. A large number of new joint research projects are initiated every year and enliven the market for industrial applications. In 2007, no other country in Europe invested more in research and development than did the German Southwest, which allocated 4.4 per cent of its gross domestic product.

At the joint Research & Technology stand of Baden-Württemberg in hall 2, numerous research projects will be presented. One real eye-catcher will be the "Stallardo' 09" sports car of Esslingen University of Applied Sciences which occupies 22nd place out of a total of 450 in the world rankings of the Student Formula of the Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE).

A further highlight at the stand will be the Learning Factory for Advanced Industrial Engineering of the Institut für Industrielle Fertigung und Fabrikbetrieb (institute of industrial production and factory operation) of Stuttgart University, which will be showcasing a digital factory-planning table and a robot cell. In the area of sealing technology, Stuttgart University's Institut für Maschinenelemente (IMA = institute of machine elements), the leading contact partner for the automotive and mechanical engineering industries, will also be represented. The Institut für Elektronische Bauelemente und Schaltungen (institute of electronic components and circuits) of Ulm University will be demonstrating an electro-chemical micro-sensor for use in the process industry or in environmental engineering applications.

In addition, the Duale Hochschule (Cooperative State University) of Baden-Württemberg as well as universities from Aalen, Rottenburg, Mannheim and Offenburg will be presenting themselves. The bio-mimetics competence network of Baden-Württemberg, the Zentrum der bionischen Innovationen für die Industrie (centre of bionic innovations for industry) at the Institut für Textil- und Verfahrenstechnik (ITV = institute of textile and process technology) of Denkendorf, will also be offering a cooperation exchange forum to any company representatives who are interested.
