bw-i as service provider

Two special areas of our work are particularly worth mentioning here: our role as service provider for the Baden-Württemberg STIPENDIUM scholarship Programme and for the Elite programme for postdocs.

Baden-Württemberg STIPENDIUM

The Baden-Württemberg STIPENDIUM is one of the largest programmes of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung and promotes the international exchange of students and professionals.

Every year, about 1,400 scholarship students are given the chance to spend a year abroad thanks to a Baden-Württemberg scholarship. As a service provider, bw-i has the job of administrating the scholarships.

By means of this programme, the Baden-Württemberg foundation promotes the international exchange of especially qualified students from Germany and abroad. In addition to the opportunity to study and engage in research abroad, the students are given the chance to develop personally as a result of their acquired intercultural insights and experience and to get to know and appreciate the many aspects of other cultures. The Baden-Württemberg STIPENDIUM for students thus makes a substantial and sustained contribution to an understanding among nations.

Baden-Württemberg International is happy to assist the institutions of higher education in the state when questions concerning the Baden-Württemberg scholarship arise.

Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for University Students - BWS plus

With the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for University Students – BWS plus, the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung is supporting innovative cooperations of Baden-Württemberg universities.

The aim is to establish and expand new relationships with foreign universities and the lasting intensification of existing contacts. Funding can be applied for to assist with various endeavours, such as pilot projects for joint measures, including preparatory talks, workshops, intercultural training, language courses and more. The aim of each project should be to continue the links as part of the normal Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for University Students programme after the maximum three-year project period has expired.

Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM - Walter-Hallstein-Programme

The Walter-Hallstein-Programme is part of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM, which is a scholarship-programme of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung. It supports the European-wide exchange of administrative staff and contributes to an intra-European cooperation within the field of public service. Besides public institutions (amongst others countries, associations and non-profit-organisations are eligable to submit project proposals) students at Master’s level as well as young civil servants are invited to submit proposals. Both Outgoings and Incomings can apply. Individual scholarships can be allocated for placements in public administrations in Europe (Outgoings) or Baden-Württemberg (Incomings) for a time period between 2 – 11 months.

Postdoctoral Fellowship for Leading Early Career Researchers

The “Postdoctoral Fellowship for Leading Early Career Researchers” is a programme of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung, which supports excellent postdoctoral researchers in the phase leading up to a university professorship. There is a call for applications at the universities in Baden-Württemberg which are entitled to confer doctorates every year.

Objective of this programme is to increase the attractiveness of Baden-Württemberg for early career researchers and thus win highly qualified staff for the universities in the state. With the Postdoctoral Fellowship, the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung provides funds for new research projects in order to strengthen the academic self-responsibility and independence of the postdoctoral researchers. Further, the programme allows its fellows to gain qualification in the fields of research, lecturing and research management. Special attention is directed towards networking activities; regular meetings shall establish lasting relations between the participants of the programme as well as to the research and study location Baden-Württemberg, extending beyond the period of actively being supported by the scholarship.

Baden-Württemberg International operates as programme partner for the Postdoctoral Fellowship for Leading Early Career Researchers. bw-i is happy to assist the universities in Baden-Württemberg as well as current, former and prospective postdoctoral researchers with any questions concerning the programme.
