At Hannover Messe 2016, Baden-Württemberg will be showcasing innovative industrial solutions for the future

From 25 to 29 April 2016, innovations from the southwest in the areas of Industrial Supply, Lightweight Solutions, Industry 4.0, MobiliTec and Research & Technology will be presented at the world's largest industrial exhibition.

This year, Baden-Württemberg International (bw-i) is once again joining around 100 companies, universities, research institutions and clusters as well as various economic regions at some of the different leading trade fairs of Hannover Messe to present Baden-Württemberg as a location for science and innovation.

Altogether, Baden-Württemberg will be represented by around 440 exhibitors at the world's largest industrial trade show. You will find a list of all exhibitors from Baden-Württemberg here.

This year's partner country at Hannover Messe is the USA, which will be represented by more than 415 exhibitors. In the United States as in Germany, modernisation of the industrial sector and digital networking of production facilities are progressing very rapidly. The aim of the US government is to again assume its position as one of the world's leading production locations. At Hannover Messe, the US will therefore be presenting itself as a high-class producer of competitive top-quality products.

Industrial Supply: supply solutions for the industry of today and tomorrow
Plans are underway to make industrial processes more efficient and finished products more durable. At the same time, the networked factory of the future calls for smart workpieces, components and systems that can be seamlessly integrated into an intelligent manufacturing process. Industrial Supply, the leading trade fair, is showing a complete array of innovative supply solutions across all branches of industry, thus enabling a direct comparison of approaches that encompasses all stages of the supply chain.

Today, the strong supply industry in Baden-Württemberg is one of the most innovative and effective in the world and is being represented accordingly at the world's largest industrial trade fair. 31 exhibitors and bw-i will be presenting themselves together on the Baden-Württemberg Pavilion E24 in Hall 4. The economic regions of Stuttgart and North Black Forest will be providing information on the opportunities for investment in their respective areas of the country. The state agency Umwelttechnik BW and the Ministry of State will also be represented at the stand.

MobiliTec: Alternative drive technologies from Baden-Württemberg
The energy turnaround will succeed with new technologies. Experts from all disciplines are working on forward-looking ideas that will make it possible to generate, store, transmit and distribute electricity cleanly and efficiently and in a cost-effective manner. At MobiliTec as well, the focus will be on innovative resource-efficient industrial solutions, whereby renewable forms of energy will be linked to the mobility sector, with an overview being given of alternative mobility technologies.

43 companies from the automotive, electrical and mechanical engineering industries will be represented with their products and services on the Baden-Württemberg Pavilion H71 in Hall 27. The stand is being organised in conjunction with e-mobile BW, the state agency for electro-mobility and fuel-cell technology, and the Stuttgart economic region.

Innovative lightweight technology solutions: Less is more
In order to remain economically successful, a reduction of the need for energy and materials is becoming a must for nearly all branches of industry. New materials and manufacturing processes are making it possible to produce increasingly lighter components of unprecedented quality.

In Baden-Württemberg as well, more and more companies are banking on "lightness" as the way forward. The fact that the southwest can offer innovative solutions in this area will be demonstrated by 13 exhibitors on the Baden-Württemberg Pavilion E30 in Hall 6. In collaboration with Leichtbau BW, the state agency for lightweight construction, bw-i will be demonstrating the contribution made by the State of Baden-Württemberg to the focal issue of lightweight solutions.

Digital Factory and Industry 4.0: The fourth industrial revolution
Digitisation is changing our world. This is reflected in industrial production, which is become more flexible, more individual and more efficient. As a result of IT-based networking, products and machines can exchange information automatically and production can be controlled non-centrally in response to changing conditions.

As a leading location for industry and innovation, Baden-Württemberg is intensively pressing ahead with Industry 4.0 as an important project of the future. The idea behind the Alliance Industry 4.0 initiative, which was started and is being sponsored by the state, is to bundle the variegated expertise of different branches of industry and, in particular, demonstrate the potential for small and medium-sized enterprises. As a partner of bw-i, the Alliance will be represented by seven exhibitors on the pavilion D34 in Hall 7 at Hannover Messe and will be providing information on Baden-Württemberg as a location for Industry 4.0.

Research & Technology: Close collaboration of industry and science
With more than 70 universities and over 100 non-university research institutions, Baden-Württemberg is one of the top locations for science in Germany. Companies, universities and research institutions are working together closely and to very good effect. After all, research and development are the mainstay of Baden-Württemberg's globally successful economy. The benefits arising from the large amounts invested in research and development are now becoming apparent in industry.

Nowhere else in Europe is such a large percentage of the gross domestic product invested in this area as in Baden-Württemberg, which invests 4.8 per cent in this way. Compared to the other federal states in Germany, the region also has the highest ratio of new patent applications per inhabitant. Eight universities together with their technical institutions, plus Allianz Faserbasierte Werkstoffe e.V. as well as the two companies Drees & Sommer AG and Polysecure GmbH will be represented on the Baden-Württemberg Pavilion A18 in Hall 2 at the Research & Technology exhibition.

Job & Career: Living and working in Baden-Württemberg
In the context of the Job & Career fair, bw-i is also working with the Baden-Württemberg Skilled Worker's Alliance and the regional welcome centres to present Baden-Württemberg as an attractive location for skilled workers and show what jobs are on offer in the state. The fair takes place on 25 and 26 April 2016 and the stand (No. C67) is in Hall 17.

Visits by politicians to the Baden-Württemberg Pavilions
In the framework of Hannover Messe, numerous German and foreign delegations from the areas of politics, industry and science will be visiting the Baden-Württemberg Pavilions. Dr. Nils Schmid, the Deputy Ministry President and Minister of Finance and Economics, will be visiting the exhibitors to obtain information on their products and services. During his visit to the fair, Minister Dr. Schmid will be giving a lunchtime reception, which will take place at 12.00 midday on the Baden-Württemberg Pavilion E24 in Hall 4.
