Baden-Württemberg presents itself at Expo Real 2012, the platform for the international real-estate industry

Six Baden-Württemberg regions are appearing on the joint stand of Baden-Württemberg International (bw-i) at Expo Real in Munich from 8 to 10 October 2012 to showcase their most attractive investment projects and real-estate opportunities to an international public of specialists. In 2011, Expo Real maintained its position as the leading trade fair for the international real-estate industry and featured over 1,600 exhibitors as well as around 19,000 visitors from 72 countries on the grounds of the Neue Messe in Munich.

On the joint Baden-Württemberg stand in hall B1.222, the regions Heilbronn-Franken, Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg, Nordschwarzwald, Ostwürttemberg, Freiburg and Neckar-Alb are presenting themselves. Very close to them are additional regions and municipalities of the state such as the Stuttgart region, the Karlsruhe technology region and the Offenburg-Ortenau economic region, which are showcasing their real-estate objects and projects and thus completing the "Baden-Württemberg marketplace" in hall B1. In addition, the Lake Constance four-states region is represented in hall C2 and the Rhein-Neckar metropolitan region in hall C1.

At 12.30 p.m. on Monday 8 October 2012, Baden-Württemberg's deputy minister president and minister of finance and economics Dr. Nils Schmid MdL will be introducing Baden-Württemberg as a location for investment and describing the opportunities to be found there to an international public. This will take place during a reception to be given on the joint Baden-Württemberg stand.

The real-estate industry – A guarantee for value added and employment

With a substantial plus of 11.3 per cent, the rise in real-estate sales in Baden-Württemberg in 2011 was again very high, accounting for more than 15 per cent of real-estate turnover in the Federal Republic of Germany as a whole. "In 2011, real-estate sales amounting to 25.13 billion euros in total were recorded", said Prof. Stephan Kippes, head of the IVD market research institute of the Immobilienverband Deutschland (German real-estate association). In the country as a whole, sales in the real-estate sector added up to approx. 165 billion euros. According to Prof. Kippes, this is the highest level achieved in the last 10 years. He sees the wave of investment redeployment triggered by the financial and economic crisis and exacerbated by the euro crisis and the problems with Greece as the reasons for the rise in the volume of turnover in Baden-Württemberg.
